What's the difference between an alampay and a pañuelo?
Both are shawls worn over the shoulders. Alampay is the Tagalog word, and pañuelo comes from the Spanish word for handkerchief. Shops, including ours, use both names.
How do I wear an alampay?
Fold it into a triangle, drape it over your shoulders with the point at your back, and pin the front closed. Our alampays with brooch come ready to pin.
Can I wear a Maria Clara gown to a wedding as a guest?
Yes, especially if the invitation says "Filipiniana". As a guest, skip all-white and choose beige, pastels or a colored pañuelo instead.
