Why wear an undershirt under your barong?
Most barong tagalog fabrics, like jusi, organza and piña, are sheer. A camisa underneath keeps the look clean in photos. It also soaks up sweat on a warm day and protects the barong so it stays fresh longer.
Which color goes with your barong?
-
White camisa under a white, ivory or cream barong. It blends in, so the embroidery is what people see.
-
Black camisa under a black barong. It keeps the color deep and even through the sheer fabric. Shop black barong tagalog.
-
Skip black under a light barong. It shows through and looks patchy. Choose white instead.
Long sleeve or short sleeve?
Wear a long sleeve camisa under a long-sleeve barong, so the sleeves look even through the fabric. Choose short sleeve for a short sleeve barong or a hot day.
Getting the fit right
-
Close, not tight
A camisa should sit smoothly against your body so it doesn't bunch under the barong.

Camisa de chino FAQ
What does "camisa de chino" mean?
It's Spanish for "Chinese shirt". You may also see it spelled kamisa de tsino or camisa chino. They all mean the same collarless undershirt.
Do I need an undershirt under a barong tagalog?
For sheer barongs, yes. An undershirt gives a neater look and keeps sweat off the barong. Lined barongs and barong coats are less see-through, so an undershirt is more of a choice.
How fast will my order arrive?
All four styles are in stock and are delivered in 4–7 days from the date of order. See shipping and delivery for more.
Do you have undershirts for kids?
Ours come in adult sizes, Small to 2XL. For boys, see our boys' barong tagalog, and ask us about undershirt options.
Can I wear a camisa de chino to a wedding without a barong?
At a relaxed garden or beach wedding, a guest can wear a white camisa with smart trousers. The groom, groomsmen and sponsors should wear it under a barong. See our wedding barong and Filipiniana.
How do I wash it?
Follow the care label. In general, wash cotton in cold water and hang it to dry to keep its shape.
